Santina (23) was born in Arua in the West Nile. Her sister used to sell mangos in Acholi Quarters and once when she visited her she met her new husband and moved to here in 2013. Santina’s father died when she was still very young; he got killed in a Boda Boda (motorcycle) accident. She was forced into marriage with 14 and was only 15 years old when she got her first child. As a result, she had to abandon school completely after delivering and couldn’t find work. Santina is extremely grateful that we teached her how to make paper jewellery and made her part of our team. When we paid the kindergarten fees of her 4-year-old daughter Winne she was crying from happiness. She is very happy that she got the opportunity to start making jewellery for 22STARS, so she can finally put enough food on the table for her children. Santina has three children, two are with her, but her 8 year old son lives with his grand mother in village. She did not see him in 2 years, because she has no money for transport to go there.
