Stella is from German/Italian descent and was born in Germany in July 1985. At the age of six her mother went to live with her in The Netherlands with her new Dutch father. Following in the footsteps of her parents she leads a very active life and has travelled all over the world. During these travels she was regularly confronted with poverty and injustice. For that reason she decided to do her Master’s degree in Public International Law and became a board member of SIFE Leiden, where she learned that the best way to help people out of poverty is by making sure that they can provide for themselves. Stella wrote her thesis about girl child soldiers within the Lord Resistance Army which is how her passion and interest for Uganda started. In 2011 she obtained a second Master’s Degree from the European Inter University Centre in Human Rights and Democratisation and was awarded a scholarship to work as a trainee with the European Union Delegation in Beijing. However, she never forgot about the women in Uganda and left China to realize the concept of 22STARS in the Netherlands. She returned to Kampala, participated in a 10-week course from the “Start Up Campus” in Rotterdam and does everything herself: text writing, web design, photoshop, building the webpages, marketing, sales and networking. She also gathered a large network around her of amazing people who are helping her share the story of the 22STARS and their jewellery. Besides having fun with her friends Stella also loves writing, painting, air gliding, shooting, diving, running, skiing, surfing, watching clouds and of course sleeping under the stars!
