Derek is 19 years old and the first child of our artisan Susan Laker. Susan got him when she was only 13 years old herself and had to flew from the war in Northern Uganda to Kampala. Derek did for a couple of months welding to earn money for a living, however they were not wearing any safety masks. So when we saw Derek again his eyes were completely red and he looked very bad. Derek would like to become a driver and Bastian Barami is helping him now paying the course to become one.
